Marine Antikainen has been part of Combient Foundry now for the better part of 2020. We sat down with her to reflect on what got her interested in Foundry in the first place.

Last March, the Foundry team welcomed Marine Antikainen as a new colleague. Having lived in Helsinki on and off for the past 10 years, she returned from Hong Kong last year. In Hong Kong, she was the Co-founder and CEO of a multinational e-commerce startup Galton Voysey

“We started completely from scratch,” Marine says. “We had the vision of building a disruptive e-commerce business to change the way brands reach consumers directly with digital marketing and social media.

Pioneering data-driven social media marketing, Galton Voysey, under Marine’s leadership, connected with hundreds of suppliers across Asia and Europe and established a global supply chain. In just three years, they rocketed to 30 million USD in revenue.

After returning to Finland, Marine learned about Foundry and saw the opportunity to focus her energy on advancing sustainability. Many examples from Foundry’s work had caught her eye already.

“I wanted to use my skills to make the world a better place,” she explains. “Foundry and the associated companies have a great record in driving this agenda. For example, KONE aiming to reduce their service business’s carbon footprint, and Stora Enso with their business needs around operational sustainability.”

Being in the center of industrial transformation opens also chances to learn a lot about technological innovations, industrial companies and their business models. Furthermore, given her own entrepreneurial and international background, Marine is excited to work with so many different startups across the world.

“Combient companies have shaped the world in which live and have been around for more than 100 years,” she says. “I am proud to be part of the team which not only ensures they are around for 100 more years but also makes them more agile and efficient.”
