This week, 7 startups in China came to workshops with teams from Stora Enso and Tetra Pak on mutual value propositions for commercial projects. Soon we will find out which ones lead to long-term partnerships. 

 

The first local Venture Client Cycle in China began this spring, despite the Corona pandemic. Taking most of our operations online for the purpose of running the cycle proved effective. We received 101 submissions from startups in China for new business opportunities we created with Stora Enso and Tetra Pak. 

Out of this group, we invited 7 startups to workshops with Stora Enso and Tetra Pak executives. The parties each drafted a value proposition for their potential partnerships, outlining a challenge-solution fit for the opportunities, and elaborating on scalability. The teams presented their solutions today at the Final Demos in Shanghai.

We had the honor of hosting the Consul General of Finland in Shanghai, Pasi Hellman. He gave the event’s opening remarks. With only small local crews onsite, mindful of the ongoing pandemic, the live webcast of the event gathered viewers from all over the world. With the formal part of the Venture Client Cycle completed today, we are happy to find we have succeeded in offering Chinese startups opportunities with Nordic corporations. We have also, once again, shown what can be done remotely, even in another country entirely.
