TRATON GROUP expands venture clienting across brands in collaboration with Combient Foundry

The TRATON GROUP is taking another step in advancing cross-brand collaboration and innovation. Building on Scania’s long-standing cooperation with Combient Foundry, TRATON has now established a broader framework that enables all Group brands – including MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus – to engage in venture clienting under a shared structure.

With this expansion, TRATON is scaling a proven and mature model of industrial innovation across its global network of leading commercial vehicle brands. The framework will accelerate collaboration with cutting-edge startups to drive advancements in areas like autonomous systems, electrification, connected transport, and AI-enabled operations, complementing the Group’s transformation efforts led by its newly established joint R&D organization.

“Scania has been practicing venture clienting for several years, and now we have the opportunity to bring that experience to the entire group. All our brands can benefit, and for startups, it means they can go global with us and scale faster. It’s an enormous advantage to spread what we’ve learned and build on it together.”

Örjan Rasmusson, Head of Innovation Management at TRATON GROUP

Over the years, Scania’s collaboration with Combient Foundry has enabled the company to evaluate more than 1,350 startup solutions, launch 25 pilots, and scale 11 solutions globally – directly supporting its R&D and operational excellence. These achievements were not the result of isolated scouting, but of a structured, systematic approach that integrates startup collaboration deeply into Scania’s transformation journey. Through this new framework, TRATON GROUP will gain direct access to the collective strength of Combient Foundry’s venture client alliance and can tap into shared knowledge, proven methods, and curated access to top-tier global startups, accelerating learning curves and unlocking innovation faster together.

“We’ve seen firsthand the results venture clienting can deliver for Scania. Expanding that model across TRATON is both a recognition of what works and a commitment to doing it at scale. Together, we’re setting the foundation for faster innovation across the entire Group.”
