Munters is a global leader in energy-efficient air treatment and climate solutions. Our manufacturing spans a variety of components, materials, processes, and locations, and there is potential for significant efficiency improvements to facilitate sustainable business. We are looking for industrial-scale solutions within additive manufacturing to improve our existing processes, secure better use of raw materials, and increase the efficiency of our products while reducing waste and manufacturing footprint.
Opportunity overview
Munters is driven by innovation, and manufacturing is at the core of what we do. Many of our components are advanced and require many materials and material types, e.g., solid, liquid, and gas. In addition, we have several different processes, meaning the footprint and capital requirements are significant.
Improving the manufacturing process and component design could have significant financial benefits and reduce negative climate impact. There is potential for better raw material usage and reduced scrap through higher tolerance designs. Our products are already helping our customers improve their climate impact, but we would like to improve our sustainability impact further across our value chain.
We seek partners to co-develop alternative manufacturing solutions using industrial-scale additive manufacturing. The answers should be able to handle combinations of solid particles in a liquid bed in terms of process and component design and material selection. Furthermore, the ability to manufacture different, ideally 3-dimensional form factors with high tolerance is beneficial. A potential partner should be specialized in one or more of these areas.
Your opportunity with Munters
Munters is a global leader in climate solutions for customers in industries where controlling temperature and humidity is mission-critical. We are in a growing market driven by several megatrends, e.g., electrification, sustainable food production, and digitalization. In the long run, the aim is to replace the traditional manufacturing process and materials with additive manufacturing solutions.
Partnering with us allows you to co-develop the solution with the industry’s leading player, where our chemical expertise complements manufacturing processes and equipment expertise. You will also have access to our R&D, operations, and sales experts to co-develop and validate the solution. A successful pilot may develop into an opportunity to rapidly scale your business, e.g., through consulting services, licensing, or equipment supply. There is excellent potential to co-create an exciting growth journey over the coming years.
Examples we're looking for
Industrial scale
Additive manufacturing at an industrial scale can produce significant volumes with high consistency. Production volumes are linked closely to demand.
Material selection and component size
Material selection and component design are essential. Our products require different material types and different form factors. We are, for example, looking to improve tolerance to allow the reduction of scrap.
Footprint efficiency
We seek solutions to reduce the operational footprint requirement by improving efficiency. We also want to reduce finished goods stock requirement through more timely production.
