KONE is looking for new ways to ensure a proactive approach to cybersecurity by enabling new opportunities through responsible business practices and meeting our customers’ needs. If your solution contributes to creating new customer value through improved product security or staying ahead on mitigating cybersecurity risks along the value chain, we would like to hear from you.
Opportunity overview
As the world becomes more connected, we at KONE recognize cybersecurity’s important role in building sustainable and smart cities. With our ecosystem partners, we create intelligent and sustainable urban environments, ensuring safe people flow with technology-driven and secure solutions. Setting a high bar for cybersecurity at KONE gives us competitive advantages. It enables us to anticipate and meet the needs of our customers – for example, builders, building owners, facility managers, and developers.
To reach our goals, we are looking to partner with innovative solution providers that can help us gain new perspectives on current or emerging cybersecurity challenges. KONE customers are increasingly interested in how security is built into our digital services, such as KONE 24/7 Connected Services. Through improved visibility of product security, KONE can create value by supporting customers’ overall security posture. Additionally, advanced risk intelligence solutions, which offer an integrated view of scattered risk information across value chains, can help KONE improve cyber risk control and mitigation. Finally, novel approaches to detecting and responding to potential cyber threats, such as ransomware campaigns, can further support KONE business operations, order deliveries, and digital service delivery to our customers.
The solutions KONE is looking for can cover, but may not be limited to, novel and proprietary services or software products that are adding value to KONE’s offering. Cooperating and integrating into the KONE product and service portfolio is critical. Furthermore, the solutions we seek should focus on benefits outside the scope of common cybersecurity standards such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443. Yet, familiarity with the criteria above and the new ISO cybersecurity standard for elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, as well as IoT and operational technology (OT), is considered a benefit.
Your opportunity with KONE
KONE is a global elevator and escalator industry leader with extensive industry know-how and world-class building references. Selected solution providers will get access to technical and commercial support from KONE to co-develop and pilot new solutions or services while jointly validating the longer-term collaboration potential and roadmaps. In case of success during the initial stages of the collaboration, there is a possibility to form a long-term partnership, with a total opportunity size of hundreds of thousands of connected IoT devices, over 60 thousand KONE employees, and more than half a million KONE customers.
Examples we're looking for
Future-proof solutions through new security features
We want to create security-driven customer value through built-in security and value-adding features in our digital offering. We seek improved ways to ensure layered defense and generate value through security features in IoT products and services.
The solution should focus on enhancing customer-relevant cybersecurity beyond the scope of industry standards ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.
Staying ahead of cyber threats with improved transparency
We must avoid cybersecurity threats and enable businesses to make informed decisions. We are looking for solutions that can help us enhance transparency within our complex ecosystem; for example, a 360-degree view integrating valuable risk information across the value chain from suppliers and partners to enterprises, customers, and end-users of KONE products and services.
Advanced cyber threat detection and response
We want to protect our company and customers from cyber threats such as ransomware. To improve digital defense, we are exploring new solutions to take cyber threat detection and response to new levels. The answer might improve, for example, the detection of malicious activity on critical systems, advancing monitoring controls and vulnerability management processes.
