What are we looking for?
Atlas Copco Industrial Technique is a leading manufacturer of industrial assembly equipment for assembly workstations in various industries. To improve assembly operator workplace wellbeing, reduce the risk of injuries and improve efficiency, Atlas Copco is looking to improve the work ergonomics of their assembly workstation operators. The scope includes managing and monitoring working ergonomics holistically including all relevant physical and cognitive aspects.
Opportunity overview
Currently, industrial equipment assembly operators are exposed to challenging work conditions and high levels of sensory and cognitive stress. In addition, the productivity and quality demands for assembly work have increased. Combined, these result in an increased risk of operator injuries and stress, and in decreased efficiency and quality.
Atlas Copco is looking for various hardware and software solutions to measure, manage and improve the operator work ergonomics, efficiency and safety. Possible solution categories could include systems related to physical load assessment, instructing and guiding operators, addressing cognitive load, smart wearables, as well as workflow and stress measurement and management.
Your opportunity with Atlas Copco
At Atlas Copco Industrial Technique, we provide smart industrial power tools and solutions ranging from handheld tools to automated systems. We have as customers some of the largest manufacturers in industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, electronics, industrial assembly and more. During the collaboration you will have access to our specialist in applied ergonomics in industrial assembly solutions, as well as feedback from our customers and sales organizations to test and validate the business value and productivity of the solutions.
Your solution might be an all-in-one solution, or it could address a small element of the focus area in an innovative manner. We are interested in solutions that significantly increase quality (error reduction) and productivity as well as reduce work injuries and cognitive load in industrial settings.
Business potential for a given solution could reach 4000 units per year or similar volumes through subscriptions on Software as a Solution (SaaS).
Focus Areas
Examples of solutions we’re interested in
Smart wearables
Equipment that helps minimize physical stress and improves ergonomics of assembly operators. Solutions that measure and monitor loads on the human body.
Cognitive ergonomics
How to measure, monitor and manage cognitive load. Solutions for operator training or task guidance based on cognitive load reduction.
Physical load
Workflow optimization solutions that help analyze and improve how assembly operators conduct their tasks at the assembly workstation as well as embedded sensors such as inertial measurement units (IMUs) in tool for measuring and reporting forces and positions.
