Munters is seeking new alternative methods for generating high temperatures in their factories. This initiative aims to achieve sustainability goals by phasing out the use of fossil fuels for generators and heating systems. While alternative fossil-free fuels are of primary interest, this opportunity extends beyond that – all solutions for generating heat in processes are welcomed.
Opportunity overview
To reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions, Munters is committed to exploring methods of heat generation in their production facilities. The prevailing market trend favors electrification. However, not all facilities can rely on this due to factors such as operating in regions with limited power line infrastructure, electricity produced from coal, or some regulatory restrictions on renewable energy installation. For instance, some factories cannot draw sufficient electricity from the grid to sustainably power a hypothetical boiler and must instead rely on robust fuel sources, such as gas.
Therefore, Munters is eager to explore alternatives to gas for heating on-site with more sustainable energy sources. This opportunity involves identifying energy sources feasible for the use case and developing a blueprint for mass adoption across 15+ plants globally one by one.
Examples we're looking for
Alternative fuels
Replacement of current fuel sources with renewable and sustainable options, aiming to address the gap in powering production.
Electrification
Transitioning current equipment to electrified options, potentially even incorporating self-sustaining electricity sourcing.
Industrial heating solutions
New alternative methods for generating high temperatures in production processes, potentially drawing inspiration from practices in other industries.
