Munters manufactures a diverse range of specialized products using various unique processes, many of which involve a high degree of manual work. Given this complexity, we are actively exploring innovative, data-driven approaches to guide our workers by providing insights based on best practices. The goal is to optimize factory operations by leveraging the wealth of data we’ve already gathered from our workforce, and thus predict issues before they happen.
Opportunity overview
When manufacturing large-scale, complex, and often non-standard products, the organization of work and the guidance provided to human labor significantly impacts efficiency, safety, and project timelines. While our current processes are effective, we believe there is room for further optimization in problem solving and understanding the log, especially in improving worker instructions, decision-making, and actions.
We currently employ traditional lean methods, such as Kaizen, but are confident that integrating new technologies can drive additional improvements in our assembly operations. For instance, leveraging vision systems to analyze worker behavior could identify the most efficient task methods or provide real-time recommendations. Refining these processes that would not only reduce production time but also enhance safety and job satisfaction. Ideally, such innovations could improve workflow and productivity by substantial margins.
Opportunity with us
We offer startups the opportunity to access a manufacturing environment that is open to innovation and experimentation. By partnering with us, startups can develop, test, and refine their solutions in a real-world setting. If successful, there is potential for these new technologies to be scaled across our global operations. This collaboration could even evolve into a long-term partnership, where the startup’s innovations become integral to our internal manufacturing processes and possibly part of our commercial offerings to our extensive industrial client network.
Examples we're looking for
Vision Systems
Solutions that leverages footage to analyse the patterns of the shop floor workflow. The solutions could not only identify repetitive patterns but also give insights into safety measures, close calls and overall ergonomics of the workforce.
Worker input solutions
Solutions that capture valuable insights directly from those on the ground. The ideal solutions would allow workers to log suggestions or report issues in real-time, which can then be analyzed to refine and improve operational procedures.
Data analysis for labour data
Innovative ways of interpreting data derived from the labor force into valuable and actionable insights to enhance safety and increase productivity.
