Industrial Future Summit is Coming!

Opportunity

Autoliv, the world’s leading provider of automotive safety solutions, operates in 25 countries with 14 global tech centers. Renowned for designing, developing, and manufacturing advanced safety systems for the automotive industry, Autoliv is committed to its mission of “Saving More Lives.” Autoliv is currently seeking a supplier to transform product requirements into product geometry and design using generative AI, enabling faster decision-making with minimal human intervention. This initiative marks the first step towards realizing the vision of automatically creating model geometry that fully meets all design requirements.

Opportunity overview

Autoliv plays a critical role in protecting and saving lives daily, making quality their top priority. With this business opportunity, Autoliv aims to elevate the design of steering wheel structures. The primary objective is to develop algorithmic methods that streamline the workflow from initial design to manufacturing by applying AI in the field of generative design. The goals include minimizing cost and weight, meeting manufacturing constraints, and reducing design cycle time compared to the current CAD-CAE approach. This approach will allow designers to explore a larger design space and create more robust products, laying the foundation for the future of product development at Autoliv. The ideal solution provider will have expertise in product design, design for manufacturing (DFM), and design for strength (DFS) methods, along with a strong background in generative AI capabilities within product design.

Opportunity with us

Partnering with Autoliv offers the chance to collaborate with the global leader in automotive safety systems and contribute to a vital industry sector. Autoliv seeks a ready-to-implement solution that can be successfully integrated into steering wheel design departments worldwide and potentially expanded to other Autoliv products. While Autoliv prefers a ready-made solution, they remain open to co-development proposals from potential suppliers.

Examples we're looking for

Generative design

The design must meet all functional requirements, including customer styling, roadmap design, and integration with standard features such as packaging constraints and variants.

Robust product

The design must be robust, meeting strength requirements under standard load cases (DFS) and accommodating tooling requirements for the die-cast manufacturing process (DFM).

Cost-effective

The design must be cost-effective, optimizing both weight and manufacturing methods efficiently.
